Again, this was a very successful tournament on Saturday 16 March with 28 teams entered, many of those teams consisting of top New Zealand bridge players. Against such an outstanding field we had 4 and a half teams form Rotorua Bridge Club entered which was great to see and all acquitted themselves competently against such prestigious competition.
\nIn particular congratulations must go to Rotorua Club\u2019s \u2018Stephens\u2019 team – Trish Stephens, John Hughes, Joyce Reid and Rex Tulloch – who took out the prize for First on Handicap and who came 9th overall. A great effort.<\/p>\n
And, of course, our congratulations to the winner, the Jones Team, and the \u2018place-getters\u2019 who were:

\nOur thanks go to Allan Joseph, our director and Jan Spaanz, our scorer both of whose brilliant organisation and expertise were essential to the smooth running of the day. This year we had the assistance of a caddy, Greta Casey from Hamilton and also a trainee tournament director, William Harlow, who assisted our Director.
\nBut there are all those others who make the \u2018total package\u2019 of a successful day: Mark Bendall \u2013 the Tournament Manager; Wendy Fraser and her team in the kitchen producing wonderful food \u2013 Colleen Allen, Maureen Carter and Christine Kampraath and all of those club members who contributed to the morning and afternoon tea.
