Well, it was an excellent day for playing bridge on Saturday, if not for much else, and a great day was had by all at the Rotorua Christmas Tournament, whatever the results at the table. The clubrooms were beautifully decorated and many entrants were festively attired with red being the popular colour of the day, and prizes given out to some of the best dressed. The overall winners were He Yuan and Yuzhong Chen from Hamilton, with our own Val Honeyfield and Gill Nelson coming second. Well done to them!
As always there was a beautiful meal to finish. Ruth and her helpers in the kitchen, Wendy and Suellyn, performed the remarkable job of feeding over 130 people so efficiently everything ran like clockwork. Thanks also to Santa (Heini) and Norm Silcock for directing and scorer Jan Spaans, and all the club members who helped beforehand, with carving and bar duties and afterwards.
