There was a good turnout for the AGM and Prizegiving held on Thursday 27 November. Ruth gave her final President’s Report (not her first “final” one, but she is adamant it will be her last), and handed over to new president Hilary Williams. Ruth and others on the committee made mention of the importance of volunteers to help run the club, and thanked the many club members who helped in all sorts of ways, often behind the scenes, to make the club run smoothly and efficiently. Christine de Vries and Kathryn Morgan are staying on as secretary and treasurer respectively and Dawne Sharplin will be vice-president.
The importance of having a good number of directors to call on to share the load was emphasised, and next year we are looking at running a seminar or workshop to give more people the confidence to direct on club nights.
With the AGM over, prizes were handed out for the various championships and major competitions during the year, followed by some social bridge. Not all the prizewinners were able to be present to receive their trophies, but here are some of the winners on the night:
